The source of the Mikveh regulation
Ezra the Sopher prescribed that men should immerse in a mikveh for purification before studying Torah and praying. Today, the Shulchan Aruch rules that this regulation is no longer in effect, but the prevalent custom is to immerse before morning prayers anyway, in order to add to the purification and refine the soul.
How
the Men's Mikveh
In 2005, as part of a rabbinical ordination institute held at the Chabad House, a need arose for a well-organized men's mikveh for the students who were accustomed to bathing daily. Since there was no suitable place for this, it was decided to build a new mikveh to be used by the men. Construction progressed while facing many challenges, but ultimately, with the blessing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Shlita, the mikveh was dedicated on Hoshana Rabbah in 2005 and opened to the general public. The mikveh is strictly kosher and its water is rainwater brought especially from the Andes Mountains.
